Lamb Meat Balls and Product Review: Artisan Stand Mixer Food Grinder

It is not often that you can find lamb mince in the shops, but I have been able to find lamb steaks. I got an artisan stand mixer for Christmas and it came with a few attachments, one of which is the food grinder.

KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer Food Grinder There can be nothing better than grinding your own meat and using a product you can trust to have no additives to make your own meat balls. I am so impressed by my artisan stand mixer and I can tell you that it is easy to use and the attachments are easy to clean. It is a simple process of putting the food grinder onto the machine and slicing your meat before pushing it through the grinder. You have a choice of coarse ground or finely ground and so you can decide on the thickness of your meat pieces to suit your own needs. The meat is cut by the grinder before being ground but you need to ensure you are not trying to push through large chunks of meat. If you don’t already have a food processor then I would highly recommend you invest in an artisan stand mixer for a mixer as well as all the wonderful and extremely useful attachments you can get with it. I got a red one, as my friend Cindy says, every kitchen needs a little bit of lipstick!

  2. Is it easy to clean? The attachment for my Kenwood isn’t much fun to clean. Even if I push bread through after the meat… I hate finding bits of meat in the plug after!

    I like meatballs.

    • It is very easy to clean which is great, as I would not use it if it were not! We nearly got the Kenwood but the Kitchen Aid won the battle :)

  3. Would love a gadget like this, but for the moment we have a lovely village butcher who will do this for us. The recipe looks great, will have to give it a go with some of our local lamb or goat.

  4. Looks yum! Are you happy with that grinder? Do you have any other attachments?

And Cindy is so right, every kitchen does need a little lipstick!

    • I have the juicer attachment which works wonders as well. I would not swap this for anything and I am going to get a few more attachments this year :)

  5. Oooh – your meatballs look awesome. I have the same mixer – gonna invest in this attachment for sure Tandy. Do you perhaps know if they sell a sausage filling attachment?? xxx have an awesome day xxxx jan
