I am in need of a large glass of this ginger whisky cocktail. For those of you who are new visitors to my blog let me start with a bit of background. I won a session with a SEO guru. Said guru made several changes to my blog which were meant to improve my SEO rating. However, these alterations did nothing but push my site further down the rankings. Google has a unique way of seeing if your blog is good enough for page one. And of course, they move the goal posts often. I have a plugin to assist with this, and I can highly recommend you install Yoast SEO. I have spent years sorting out one issue after another and yesterday decided to do my crawl errors. This is an error that is returned by Googlebot when it crawls a particular URL.

Imagine a person sitting in front of their screen looking at every single aspect of your website. If they click on a link and it returns a 404 error that is a problem. A 404 error returns a message saying sorry, the page you are looking for does not exist. When the expert fiddled around on my blog, the slugs were changed to not include the date. If someone anywhere on the web had linked to the old slug, that would return an error. So, yesterday I fixed 140 of these errors. It was not too difficult to do, but it was time-consuming. And then I sat down with a well deserved drink to celebrate the fact that I fixed something else on my blog. Do you know how to check for crawl errors?
