Would you like to win a VIP pass for you and a friend to the Harfield Village Carnival? Stalls, street party and a great entertainment line up at the annual event taking place on the 2nd April 2016.
The Harfield Village Carnival in Harfiled Village promises to be an event not to be missed, with another fun filled event for carnival goers, who can try the delicious food and drinks, enjoy this year’s live entertainment line up or shop up a storm.
And it’s all for a good cause. All funds raised at the free carnival which is hosted by The Harfield Village Association, will be going back into the improvement, greening, schools, charities and general upliftment of the area, according to HVA chariperson, James Fernie.
2nd Avenue will be closed off and filled with approximately 150 stalls ranging from food, arts and crafts, clothing, jewellery, homeware and novelties. Stalls will run from 0900 – 18h00 and the street party will take place in the restaurants area from 18h00 to 23h00.
This year the stalls have been removed from the restaurants area to create more seating for carnival goers and to create one large food / beer court area which will also have entertainment such as live music and DJs in various locations. The market area will be extended to Purley Park where there will also be entertainment.
The Kids area which was a huge success last year, will be in Wesley street again with jumping castles, crafts games, face painting and shows and is sponsored by Remax Premier in Claremont.
The opening ceremony will start at 11am with a march by the Young Guiding stars sacred string band followed by various carnival parades, stilt walkers, puppets, unicycles, jugglers by eMzantsi Carnival throughout the day creating a real festive carnival atmosphere.
Uber will also be on call, and attendees can use this great taxi service to pick up and drop home, and you can use the code Harfield Carnival to get your first ride up to R200 free, so there’s no parking hassles or worries about tasting some of the best and tasty craft beers and wine.
Fernie says that The Harfield Village Carnival is a great event for everyone all ages to come out and play as there is something for everyone. “Bring your friends and family and show your support for this worthy cause,” he adds.
