Ambush, James Patterson And James O. Born

Ambush opening line: I watched the eight-story apartment building on 161st, about half a block from Melrose Avenue.

My blurb:

Without knowing it, Detective Michael Bennet has a price on his head. For some reason there is a killer out to get him. He seems totally oblivious to this fact as he deals with a killer in town. His son is attacked and this is linked back to a drug war. Michael is in the thick of it, and help comes from an unexpected person, the new Priest in town. While dealing with crime Michael also has to deal with his daughter growing up, and her new boyfriend that he does not approve of.

Detective Michael Bennett’s enemies know where to find him.
An anonymous tip about crime in Upper Manhattan proves to be a setup. An officer is taken down – but despite the attackers’ efforts, it’s not Michael Bennett.
New York’s top cop is not the only one at risk.
One of Bennett’s children is attacked. And a series of murders follows, each with a distinct signature, alerting Bennett to the presence of a professional killer.
Bennett can’t tell what’s driving the assassin.
But he can tell it’s personal.

READ AN EXTRACT  from Ambush.

My verdict:

I have been following Michael Bennett’s story for quite some time now and would never pass up the opportunity to read one of the books. This is the 11th in the series and I can highly recommend it.
