Castleview Bed And Breakfast, Dufftown

By the time Dave and I arrived at Castleview Bed and Breakfast I was all ‘blogged‘ out. It was really not my intention to do a review, and so I did not take any photographs of the room before we had slept in it. But after breakfast I changed my mind as it was really a great meal and worth sharing. Situated 2.7 miles outside of Dufftown, this is the perfect place to rest your head after visiting the numerous distilleries in the area. For our tasting we chose only to visit Glenfiddich but there are so many other distilleries in the area worth seeing. Of course, this is a good excuse for us to go back.

The Garden At Castleview
Great host

We were warmly greeted by Ian, who is so pleasant to chat to. He had been left to his own devices while his wife was away. Ian is a keen fisherman and if you are planning on a fishing trip to Scotland I would suggest you stay with them for some great advice. We were shown to our room and had a cup of coffee before deciding where to eat that night. We asked Ian’s advice and drove back into Dufftown for dinner. You will need to take care when returning to the B&B at night as there are no road lights and the signage is not easy to see.

Our Room At Castleview
Our room

Dave and I were in the family room which was spacious and had all the necessary bits and pieces to make it comfortable. There was a luggage stand, games and a mini fridge, together with a great selection of complimentary tea; and coffee. The en-suite bathroom had a push through temperamental shower and was supplied with all the amenities one needs when travelling.

Fresh Berries And Yoghurt For Breakfast At Castleview
Scottish breakfast

When we came down for breakfast, Ian was in the kitchen cooking the Castleview Scottish breakfast for other guests. We started off with fresh, seasonal berries, yoghurt and fruit compote and then moved on to the obligatory black pudding, eggs and sausage. I knew this would be my last huge breakfast of our holidays and so made the most of everything. The guests that arrived after us ordered the traditional porridge oats and it was served with a whisky syrup. A recreation of this will have to be on my list of things to make this year.

  1. What an amazing place to stay Tandy, I know what you mean about not intending to blog about something and wishing you had taken a few photo’s. I visiting form wonderful places in Niagara Falls, Canada (I only live 20 minutes away) but didn’t feel in the mood to photograph. It was a shame because my readers would have loved the orchids in the indoor gardens. Next time!

  2. Sometimes you just live in the moment. I feel like my blogging sometimes takes away from that. It is definitely difficult to turn off the blogging impulse of wanting share great food and places with others. This place sounds lovely.
