Glenmorangie Whisky Weekend

Jan 24, 2018Oct 10, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 15 Comments

Glenmorangie Whisky Weekend The Glenmorangie Whisky Weekend at Glenmorangie House started with a sensory experience and whisky tasting. There are 143 flavours in The Original  and we were given 11 to smell. This was done blindfolded and was more difficult than I had imagined. After that we had 4 drinks to try to identify and 2 flavour … Continue reading Glenmorangie Whisky Weekend

Glenmorangie House, Fearn, Scotland

Jan 17, 2018Dec 7, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 23 Comments

Glenmorangie House The Sinclair clan are originally from Caithness. Dave's family moved from there to Nairn before making their way to South Africa. We arrived at Glenmorangie House fairly late in the afternoon and we were met by Amy who works front of house. We were shown straight to our room - Nairnshire, which was opposite Caithness. What a … Continue reading Glenmorangie House, Fearn, Scotland

Travel Apps And Do You Use Them?

Jul 19, 2017Dec 28, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 25 Comments

Travel Apps It is amazing to think how far the world has come in terms of technology. Before the internet you would have to phone the airline 24 hours before your flight to confirm your booking. When I flew to Australia in 1991 I did just that. And when I got to the airport I … Continue reading Travel Apps And Do You Use Them?

Augusta Kleinbosch Guest Farm, Paarl

Nov 9, 2016Oct 8, 2020 ~ Tandy ~ 17 Comments

Augusta Kleinbosch Our arrival at Augusta Kleinbosch was quite rushed. I was part of a media group with the Cape Winelands District Municipality and this was to be our accommodation for the night. There are 9 guest rooms and I stayed in Die Patriot Kamer, room number 3. With a central fireplace and an African decor theme it … Continue reading Augusta Kleinbosch Guest Farm, Paarl

Lakeside Lodge And Spa, Sedgefield

Apr 20, 2016Mar 16, 2023 ~ Tandy ~ 26 Comments

Dave and I have been touched by amazing kindness by Penny who invited us to spend a night at Lakeside Lodge and Spa which overlooks the Swartvlei. Our stay included dinner and breakfast and apart from one thing, everything was amazing. We go to Sedgefield about 4 times a year to see Dave's mum who … Continue reading Lakeside Lodge And Spa, Sedgefield

Skerrols House, Islay, Scotland

Mar 23, 2016Feb 24, 2023 ~ Tandy ~ 22 Comments

Situated opposite Loch Skerrol, just a short drive from Bridgend, this stunning house is more than just a Bed and Breakfast. Dave and I drove up the road to an isolated homestead where we were warmly greeted by Thomas, the manager. Skerrols House has 7 luxury rooms, and due to a slight mix up in dates, … Continue reading Skerrols House, Islay, Scotland

Applying For A Visa: My Tips For Any Trip

Apr 8, 2015Feb 25, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 18 Comments

Applying For A Visa Sadly, as we live in a country where corruption is rife it means that our passports are easy to 'obtain' for illegal immigrants. People manage to flood across our borders and obtain these passports and then they are free to travel wherever a South African passport will allow them to. So, … Continue reading Applying For A Visa: My Tips For Any Trip

Planning A Holiday | My Hints And Tips

Apr 16, 2014Mar 16, 2021 ~ Tandy ~ 26 Comments

I wrote a long blog post which was very well received on planning a holiday when I had a blog on the Taste Magazine platform. Dave and I are very fortunate to travel overseas at least once a year. This has been made possible as we have taken the money we were spending on school fees … Continue reading Planning A Holiday | My Hints And Tips

Dave and I went to @kenforrestervineyards to do a Chenin tasting. We have been drinking their wines for years but this was our first visit to the estate. Do not arrive an hour before they close and expect to do a tasting. It's just not possible. And do expect to pay for your tasting even if you buy wine. #cheninblanc #chenin #buysouthafricanwine #drinksouthafricanwine #buylocal #wine #winetasting #jobssaveslives #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
Our first visit to @senoronion saw me devour my supper! This was a super generous portion and we will be back for more #mexican delights #eatlocal #eatout #visitsouthafrica #somersetwest #supper #jobssaveslives #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
Dinner on Saturday night was at the @longtablerestaurant at @haskellvineyards. The vines are full of grapes and we walked to the lookout point before our meal. We enjoyed the seafood bisque, chicken liver parfait, garden salad, gnocchi and slow roasted lamb shoulder. All with a very refreshing chardonnay. My dessert was a total let down. Service from Eddie was excellent. And as you can see, the setting is stunning. #eatlocal #eatout #visitsouthafrica #jobssaveslives #stellenbosch #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
