I am not sure where March raced away to! It is Easter, and today (1st April 2013) I am going to try and stay off line for the entire day – this could be quite a challenge. In the meantime, I have a few things from my kitchen to share with you!
in my kitchen ….
Are loaves of bread made from Cordelia. Celia sent me some sourdough starter in the post. The dodgy looking white powder did not garner a second look from customs and as our postal service is on strike in Johannesburg the envelope was not even franked. Funnily enough, despite the strike the envelope was at me within a week of being posted. Celia asked me to name my starter and I came up with the name using Celia’s own name and her blog name (Fig Jam and Lime Cordial for those of you who don’t know her). Cordelia is the daughter of Priscilla and to see more of her siblings, take a look here. For anyone who lives close to me: if you would like to try sourdough please let me know. I have enough starter to share!
in my kitchen ….
is my new favourite toy! This egg topper has been on my wish list for some time now. My sister and I were shopping in Sandton City and she insisted I go into a shop there to take a look at the KitchenAid attachments, and while I was browsing I found this!
in my kitchen ….
last but not least is the photograph of my fridge!
I am submitting this post to IMK hosted by Celia of Fig Jam And Lime Cordial

I don’t know where the last 2 month desapeared. On tuesday I fly back Europe after 2 months. Your freash bread could east the pain 😉
Wow, the two months have slipped away so quickly Marta 🙂
Nice to meet Cordelia! I just took my starter out to bake tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it looks as good as yours! 😀
I am looking forward to reading what you come up with – I have some rye proving today 🙂
Mmm I wish I lived near you 😀
This bread looks lovely!
You would be welcome anytime Uru 🙂
I’m always amazed at how neat neat your refrigerator is…mine is always stuffed.
I want to start a business sorting out other people’s kitchens for them!
Hi Tandy, Good looking bread. How does the egg topper work?
Hi Glenda, you place the egg into an egg cup – narrow side up – and then place the egg topper on to the egg. The round knob lifts up and you gently drop it down, until it cracks the egg the whole way around. You then remove the top of the shell gently, save the egg and wash out the shell to use. You can see the end result here: http://tandysinclair.com/honey-liqueur-sabayon-recipe/
That bread looks wonderful, Tandy. White powder in the post? Better not try sending that to America. 🙂 I see that you have lots of eggs in your fridge to try out your topper on. 🙂
We go through a LOT of eggs AD – and I have tried using the egg topper on my soft boiled eggs as well 🙂
I would like to understand how that egg topper works.

Ooh, I have to look out for an egg topper – Pete would LOVE one of these. Now, just to find one in small PE.
Have a super week ahead Tandy.
you can shop on line! http://www.kitchenpassion.co.za Have a super week as well 🙂
Happy Easter Tandy! Very nice egg topper, have a great week!
Thank you Katya, and a good week to you too 🙂
I love peeping into others kitchens! Will do my IMK post, hopefully, tomorrow! …. and the answers to the Food Quiz!
I also love peeking into everyone’s kitchen 🙂
What great looking loaves!
thank you Yummychunklet 🙂
Lovely bread, It is just amazing to think that that starter has been shipped all the way to you from just down the road from me, hope you had a great easter
It is amazing how small the world has become since the postal service went world wide! We had a wonderful Easter, thank you 🙂
It’s good to know that Cordelia is doing so well. Priscilla’s family is getting big with children and grandchildren!
she is an amazing starter – I had her going on the kitchen bench all of the long weekend. Thanks for the visit Pat 🙂
Oh my gosh, I just had the thought the other day how interesting it would be to bare my soul and take a photo of my open fridge for my blog. It would not be so neat and tidy as yours — love it. 🙂
I would love it if you did!
Ah the aroma in your kitchen from the breadmaking… I can smell it from here!
I love the smell of bread baking!
Tandy, I didn’t realise you’d named the starter after me! I’m so touched, thank you! And thank you for taking to the sourdough baking with SO much enthusiasm – I hope it brings you years and years of joy. The egg topper sounds intriguing, and how great to see inside your fridge again – I’d missed it! 🙂 (Do you tidy up the fridge just for us? Because it’s always so neat!) xx
Celia, I have to confess that my fridge always looks like that! I am a bit obsessive when it comes to things lining up and being in the right place 🙂
love the wonderful looking bread & i agree about the firdge–everything needs to be in order
It makes life so much easier if you can find everything 🙂
Oh I have one of those egg toppers too, aren’t they terrific! I have so many little gadgets that I don’t have space to store them:)
I am also running out of space!
