Iranian Five Spice Blend | Persian Spices

I cannot recall where I heard about this Iranian Five Spice Blend, but I was really excited to try something new. The key to using this spice blend is to dry roast the spices before adding them to a dish. I used mine to flavour brown and wild rice.

Our Boxer, Scarlett, has not had any proper dog training. This is due to the fact that there are no longer training schools in our area. I have done my best to train her and a firm no will usually get her to listen. She taught herself not to go out of the gate when we open it. And she will stand between me and a stranger when someone new comes to the house. Yesterday morning while I was getting ready for work, I heard a squealing noise, and Scarlett started whining. She then ran straight upstairs to stand next to me. I should have known right away that something was amiss. No sooner had she come upstairs than the alarm went off. That meant someone was on our property and had triggered one of the beams. The siren is in our bedroom and the sound of it is loud!

Trying not to panic too much I went to get the master remote and turned the alarm off. I was quite prepared to let the armed response come over and see who was walking around. As soon as I had the alarm turned off, Dave told me that it was one of the staff, early for work. I stuck my head out of the window to make sure, and to let him know all was OK. And then I let my emotions take over. My heart was racing with a delayed sense of panic. As soon as I had calmed down, Scarlett left my side and took herself outside.
