Murder Games, James Patterson & Howard Roughan

Murder Games opening line: So you want to be a serial killer …

My blurb:

Somehow, Professor Dylan Reinhart is key to solving who The Dealer is, and why he is killing seemingly random people. His method for each murder is not the same, but Detective Elizabeth Needham knows she has a serial killer to find. Will he be caught before too many people die?

Murder Games

The next hand he deals you…may be your last. A serial killer is loose on the streets of Manhattan. His victims appear to be total strangers. The only clue that links the crimes is the playing card left behind at each scene that hints at the next target.

The killer, known in the tabloids as The Dealer, is baiting cops into a deadly guessing game that has the city increasingly on edge. Elizabeth Needham, the tenacious cop in charge of the case, turns to an unlikely ally – Dylan Reinhart, a brilliant professor whose book turned up in connection with the murders.

As the public frenzy over The Dealer reaches a fever pitch, Dylan and Elizabeth must connect the clues to discover what the victims have in common – before The Dealer runs through his entire deck.

My verdict:

I was hooked from the very first paragraph and did not want to put this book down. Howard Roughan will be an author on my radar for any future books.
