October 2020 Showcasing In My Kitchen

October 2020 was meant to be the month we went overseas. Despite our borders being open this did not happen. Italy was on the ‘green’ list but would not allow South Africans to visit. And The Netherlands was on the red list. So instead Dave and I spent four days on a South African road trip.

Some Sous Vide Time

Experimenting with my sous vide cooker is still an ongoing affair. Last month I made Sous Vide Scrambled Eggs, and Sous Vide Short Ribs.

Of course there was baking and treats

I started off with cocoa brownies using solid cacao and then moved on to salted caramel scrolls. One Sunday I made semolina crumpets and when the weather was good I made a Dutch Oven sourdough. Needing another signature recipe I made lavender and lime shortbread.

Making My Own and Recipe Testing

While clearing out my freezer I found a bag of red currants and used them to make red currant conserve. I also made my own chicken noodles from scratch. In October 2020 I published a few recipes from a recipe book I reviewed. First there was an onion and cider soup, followed by a recipe for chocolate sorbet.

One New Thing In My Kitchen October 2020

A friend and I often have a quick coffee when we are together, and she gave me these double walled coffee cups as a gift. Here you can see them on the floating shelf we have put into our guest bedroom. It’s sole function is to hold the Nespresso machine we got for our guests to use.

Double Walled Coffee Cups

This is my November submission to the #IMK series, hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens. Pop on over to her blog to take a peek.
