August 2018 Showcasing In My Kitchen

No sooner had I blinked and August 2018 was half way through. The count down has begun for our trip to Italy. But before I could even think of that, Dave and I went away. He and Eric were racing in Port Elizabeth. We did our usual road trip, leaving home in the dark and stopping in Riviersonderend for breakfast. Our preferred stop is at Oumuel Bakkery. We made good time there, and left after breakfast on Sunday morning to get home. For lunch, we stopped at Ikigai in Riversdale, and then spent an hour at snail’s pace to get down the Pass to home. The upside of going away over a public holiday is you don’t miss work. The downside is the traffic. But, without further ramblings let me share what was new in my kitchen last month.

August 2018 #FOMO Box

I had just run out of beef stock powder when the August 2018 #FOMO Box arrived. I used the tomato with basil and oregano in an oxtail casserole straight away. The ruskotti were delicious and eaten on our road trip. Dave is well pleased with the soup ladle as he does not like the one I have had for over 20 years. That one has gone back into the cottage kitchen. I am also loving the parmesan flavoured oil. I am using it on flash fried green beans and to roast cauliflower.

Coffee Cannister

Now that I have a nearly completed kitchen I am buying things for it. The first item on my list was a cannister for the instant coffee. I have a mug every afternoon and wanted something that would fit in my drawer, and look good.

Kitchen Completed Drawers

I am so pleased with my drawers. The top drawer on the extreme left has a drawer in drawer system and contains all the goodies for my vacuum sealer, as well as the sealer. I have also used the space to store the cords for my thermometers. The drawer underneath that has my Kenwood Chef. The drawers on the right also have a drawer in drawer system on top, and all three contain the paraphernalia for my Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer, and my blender. I have space left for more goodies. Next to that are two spice racks.

Le Creuset Dish

When I started collecting Le Creuset, everything was in Flame Red. But I have been gifted so many stunning items in different colours. And now I am all for the eclectic collection. This dish was a gift from John and Dorothy.

Pasta Drying Rack

My old pasta drying rack had seen better days and needed replacing. I was so reluctant to get rid of it as it was a gift from my sister. However, it was falling apart! Lara and Clinton gave me a gift voucher to spend at Yuppiechef and I chose to get a new one. It folds up nicely and does the job perfectly.
