Zibaldone, Bellville South Africa

The one place we dine out more often than not in Cape Town is Zibaldone. Situated at the Tygervalley Waterfront, this restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine.

Choose your dessert first. Life is unpredictable. This is how the menu starts, with the dessert page. However, no matter how many times we eat there we very seldom get to enjoy desserts. The portions are so generous that we are all too full by the time we have finished our main courses.

Our meal

We always go to Zibaldone with Eric and Bev, and if we go on an evening when they are making pasta we share a starter. We choose the pomodoro pizza (R75) and the two slices each are more than enough. On the evening I decided to write a review I had the homemade ravioli fior di latte (R135) as my main course. This was probably not the best meal from a photograph perspective. But it was so delicious. I try to have something new each visit to make my way through the menu. Dave had the penne alla puttanesca (R120) which was also very good.

Service and more

I like that they use linen tablecloths and napkins and that everything feels upmarket. The meals have always been fantastic and the service is excellent. As Bev and Eric are regular customers, they are always greeted with a friendly smile and warm hello when we arrive. Contact them on: +27 21 914 1771 – bookings essential.
