Gum paste
Food colouring powder
(the gel will change the consistency of your paste)
Glitter / shimmer dust
Heart cutter
Edible 'stones'
Edible marking pen
Small paper cases for petit fours and truffles
Stamens
Method
It is important to keep your gum paste moist to work with so tear off just enough to make one flower
Add the colouring or shimmer powder if you want to
Roll out as thin as possible using a silpat
For the daisy like flowers
Cut 5 heart shapes using the smallest heart cutter in your collection
Overlap the bottom of the hearts to make a circle
Press the edible stone into the centre
Draw in the lines to make the 'stamens'
Press the petals up to create a daisy like flower that can stand
Place into a paper case and leave to dry completely
For the tulip like flowers
Cut 5 heart shapes using the smallest heart cutter in your collection
Cut each heart in half, along the length (this is enough for 2 flowers)
Overlap the bottom of three of thee heart halves
Place 3 stamens into the centre of the heart halves
Overlap the bottom of the two remaining heart halves
Now carefully fold the petals over each other and create a circle
Place one baking paper to dry completely
For the cake
If you are using fondant, use whipped egg white to glue your flowers on to the cake
If you are using any other type of frosting place your flowers at the last minute onto the cake as they will 'melt'
