Chicken Livers With Pomegranate Sauce

Feb 17, 2021Feb 18, 2021 ~ Tandy ~ 14 Comments

Like Sally Butcher, I was not sure how pomegranate molasses would work with the earthy taste of chicken livers. I for one love everything about livers, and will experiment with all sorts of flavours. Especially now while we have a booze ban in place and my Brandy is running low. I have used port and … Continue reading Chicken Livers With Pomegranate Sauce

Chopped Liver | A Traditional Jewish Recipe

Oct 27, 2014Oct 4, 2021 ~ Tandy ~ 21 Comments

When I was growing up, every Jewish Holiday was celebrated at my Grandmother's house. The day of the celebration she would have all the aunts over at her house to prepare for the meal. I can remember being served tongue, hunting for the afikomen on passover and enjoying my Aunty Tilly's ice cream. Pesach meals … Continue reading Chopped Liver | A Traditional Jewish Recipe

Haggis Recipe To Make At Home

Jun 16, 2014May 17, 2021 ~ Tandy ~ 41 Comments

I have twice tried haggis and the first time was not a memorable experience. We had it at a local restaurant for Burns Night and frankly it was nothing to write home about. When we were in Scotland I ordered some at a local pub, and what made it was the whisky sauce! This month … Continue reading Haggis Recipe To Make At Home

Pan Fried Chicken Livers

Apr 24, 2014Mar 17, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 33 Comments

Pan Fried Chicken Livers are great to boost your iron levels. Is our ability to handle our finances indicative of how we conduct our lives? And can we be expected to handle our finances positively when so many countries are in debt or facing bankruptcy? The bottom line has to be spend what you earn! If we … Continue reading Pan Fried Chicken Livers

Chicken Liver Terrine | Freshly Blogged

Aug 13, 2013Jul 13, 2021 ~ Tandy ~ 16 Comments

For challenge 6 of Freshly Blogged we had to come up with two recipes, both of which had to incorporate cayenne pepper and cinnamon. Our ingredient list was limited to say the least and our allowances for fresh ingredients only allowed for fruit, vegetables and herbs. With the addition of 2 grocery items, which we … Continue reading Chicken Liver Terrine | Freshly Blogged

Chicken Liver Pâté For The Monthly Mingle

Apr 19, 2012Mar 16, 2021 ~ Tandy ~ 42 Comments

When Jamie posted the challenge to the Monthly Mingle I was stumped. I thought long and hard about what French food meant to me. And once I thought of all the real French dishes I love, I had to think which ones I could make and blog about. Last year we were in France, barging the … Continue reading Chicken Liver Pâté For The Monthly Mingle

Spicy Chicken Livers Using Red Chilli

Dec 14, 2011Nov 3, 2020 ~ Tandy ~ 22 Comments

Chicken livers form a staple part of the diet in any Jewish household. We serve chopped liver at Passover, together with chopped herring, gefilte fish and chicken soup with matza balls. We make chicken liver pâté to serve with rye bread, which is one of my favourite 'sides' to make. My recipe is full of … Continue reading Spicy Chicken Livers Using Red Chilli

Dave and I went to @kenforrestervineyards to do a Chenin tasting. We have been drinking their wines for years but this was our first visit to the estate. Do not arrive an hour before they close and expect to do a tasting. It's just not possible. And do expect to pay for your tasting even if you buy wine. #cheninblanc #chenin #buysouthafricanwine #drinksouthafricanwine #buylocal #wine #winetasting #jobssaveslives #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime

Dinner on Saturday night was at the @longtablerestaurant at @haskellvineyards. The vines are full of grapes and we walked to the lookout point before our meal. We enjoyed the seafood bisque, chicken liver parfait, garden salad, gnocchi and slow roasted lamb shoulder. All with a very refreshing chardonnay. My dessert was a total let down. Service from Eddie was excellent. And as you can see, the setting is stunning. #eatlocal #eatout #visitsouthafrica #jobssaveslives #stellenbosch #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
