On our last evening in The Cotswolds, Dave and I went to The Frog for supper. This quaint pub situated on the Avon should have been the perfect ending to our midweek break. Sadly, our food choices did not match the ambiance of the place.
The Frog
Dave chose this pub because he thought that fish and chips (£13.99) would be the perfect meal to signal the end of this part of our holiday. The beer battered cod that came out of the kitchen looked amazing, and generous. But sadly they were all sold out by the time we were ready to order. As we had just got our drinks, and it was late, I did not want to find somewhere else to eat. I ordered the classic beef burger (£11.99). It sounded so good, served on a brioche bun with fries on the side. But the beef patty was overcooked and bland. Dave settled for the tandoori chicken tikka masala (£12.95) but was not impressed with his meal.
The not so good and the alright
I am sharing this review because I feel that had we got the meal we wanted, it might have been a better experience. But we will never know. And it is always good to read honest reviews that might help you make a better choice if you find yourself in the area. There were some good points, including the service which was alright. And the view which is fantastic. The outside area looks inviting, with views of the Avon. And there are moorings for narrowboats outside The Frog.

When visiting England, Ireland, and Scotland, my husband would always order burgers, and he was always disappointed. They are certainly not like American burgers, but even here, they’re not always good at restaurants. But he never learned! That’s too bad about a bad meal at a cute pub.
We do great burgers here, but I never order them as Dave makes better ones at home 🙂
Hi Tandy, a good restaurant must be good with all of its meals not just one.
I agree!
