Bellavista Country Place
Situated just outside of Stanford, heading towards Gansbaai you will find Bellavista Country Place. This luxury accommodation overlooks Walker Bay and is surrounded by 300 hectares of fynbos. One thing is for sure, it is peaceful at Bellavista Country Place and there is a wide choice of accommodation options. For some reason John and Dorothy were not put into the room next to ours. They were in a small cottage with a lounge, kitchen and loft bedroom. Their bedroom was en-suite with a bath and just off the lounge was a bathroom with a shower. The staff are exceptionally friendly and available at all times.
Room 2, the junior suite
Dave and I were in room 2, with a lounge, huge bedroom and massive bathroom. We had twin basins, a Victorian bath, separate toilet and a large shower. Taking full advantage of the abundance of water, I decided to have a bath after our arrival. I had to call for help as the hot water had not yet been turned on. Once this was done I could luxuriate while reading a book and drinking coffee. A real treat indeed. Keet & Monks amenities were provided, including bubble bath. The fridge in the lounge contained a complimentary bottle of water. Coffee, tea and rusks were also complimentary but not topped up. There is no turn down service so before we went for dinner I made sure all the excess cushions were off the very comfortable king size bed.
Things that irk me
Small design issues like light switches and the way taps show hot and cold could be addressed. The shower was really nice but instead of building the wall between the shower and the toilet to have a shelf in the shower, the shelf is on the toilet side. Other than that, the accommodation really met all of our expectations.
Panorama Restaurant
Situated next to the rim flow swimming pool is the restaurant. Luzanne gave us excellent service, staying late into the night while we drank numerous bottles of wine. Dinner is served every evening from October to May (inclusive) and I would take this option up as Bellavista is not close to any restaurants. The food was good but not WOW. Continental breakfasts are served year round and I started with fresh fruit and a croissant. My hot breakfast included fried eggs, bacon and raw tomatoes. The sausage did not sit well with me and I pushed it aside, largely uneaten. John did the same with his.

Hi Tandy, It sounded a comfortable break away. Always good to have a bath for a change and a bit of luxury…. xx
It was pure luxury!
Sounds quite nice, Tandy. I also can’t wait to toss all the excess cushions off the bed and into a corner somewhere. 😅
I cannot understand why they put so many on the bed 🙂
