Chocolate Beetroot Cake

Feb 7, 2012Jan 24, 2023 ~ Tandy ~ 73 Comments

This month, the Crazy Cooking Challenge is to bake a chocolate cake. I decided to make Betty Bakes' Chocolate Beetroot Cake as I was wondering whether Dave, who does not like beetroot, would notice it in the cake. No-one who had a taste of this cake knew it had beetroot in other than Dave - and he thinks … Continue reading Chocolate Beetroot Cake

Chicken Noodle Soup | Crazy Cooking Challenge

Jan 7, 2012Jan 5, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 58 Comments

Chicken noodle soup is known as Jewish penicillin for the natural antibiotics found in it. The health giving properties are meant to come from the bones. This is why I make my own chicken stock from scratch. I make a bone broth to ensure the best for the stock. And use the stock for my … Continue reading Chicken Noodle Soup | Crazy Cooking Challenge

Fudge | Made With Condensed Milk

Dec 7, 2011Dec 7, 2020 ~ Tandy ~ 52 Comments

The 7th of every month sees the Crazy Cooking Challenge reveal. This month we were challenged to make fudge. I was so pleased when my google search revealed my friend Sam's blog - Drizzle and Dip. However, two attempts at making her recipe were not successful. I am not sure why, as I have never made … Continue reading Fudge | Made With Condensed Milk

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oct 7, 2011Aug 26, 2022 ~ Tandy ~ 25 Comments

This month, the Crazy Cooking Challenge is to make chocolate chip cookies. Being sucrose intolerant, this is one recipe I have not tried before, as it necessitates chopping up whole sugar free chocolate, and I have never really been bothered to go to all that work for a simple cookie. However, being challenged I set about … Continue reading Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dave and I went to @kenforrestervineyards to do a Chenin tasting. We have been drinking their wines for years but this was our first visit to the estate. Do not arrive an hour before they close and expect to do a tasting. It's just not possible. And do expect to pay for your tasting even if you buy wine. #cheninblanc #chenin #buysouthafricanwine #drinksouthafricanwine #buylocal #wine #winetasting #jobssaveslives #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
Our first visit to @senoronion saw me devour my supper! This was a super generous portion and we will be back for more #mexican delights #eatlocal #eatout #visitsouthafrica #somersetwest #supper #jobssaveslives #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
Dinner on Saturday night was at the @longtablerestaurant at @haskellvineyards. The vines are full of grapes and we walked to the lookout point before our meal. We enjoyed the seafood bisque, chicken liver parfait, garden salad, gnocchi and slow roasted lamb shoulder. All with a very refreshing chardonnay. My dessert was a total let down. Service from Eddie was excellent. And as you can see, the setting is stunning. #eatlocal #eatout #visitsouthafrica #jobssaveslives #stellenbosch #IHearYou #ISeeYou #HowCanIHelp #LavenderAndLime
