I first read about Easy Simple And Delicious on my friend Cindy’s blog. She made it quite clear, that if I wanted any of the recipes, I would have to buy the book. Cindy had bought a copy of Lavender & Lime and to keep the circle going, I bought a copy of Sonia’s book at my local Exclusive Books in Somerset Mall. It came home, and sat patiently on my bookshelf, waiting for an opportunity to be read. This book is right up my street. It appeals to my every sense and if I had the budget behind me, I would have produced Lavender & Lime in exactly the same format. Already, before reading a recipe, I was in love. The recipes themselves are split into categories: fresh, fast and lazy – another very appealing concept. Included in the recipe book are staples – things you can make to go with anything.
Each section is further divided into starters, mains and desserts – and you can mix and match from all the sections to get a meal to suit your palate, your time, and your aims. Included are breakfasts and extras so your entire day can be catered from this book. I made the chocolate almond cake from the lazy section – and the end result was a not too chocolatey cake. This cake recipe uses 5 eggs and so I could not divide it in half as is the norm in our house. It was saved for pudding for Christmas day and it really looked amazing with the fresh berries on top.
I love the idea of a lazy section, especially when getting home tired from work and not feeling too motivated to cook!
those days call for something out of the freezer 🙂
Fab review and isn’t that cake just a winner?
thanks so much for getting me to buy the book! the cake is worth making again 🙂
