April 2018
April 2018 was an extremely emotional month for me. It started off with a family tea at my Aunt. We had a photograph taken and in it are my dad, two of his brothers, the wives, my Aunt’s mom, some of my cousins, my sister and I, and 9 of the next generation of kids. We are a HUGE family and there are so many missing from this photo. But the most important thing is that the photograph includes my Uncle who passed away 10 days after it was taken. I said goodbye to my sister who returned to Australia and came home. Only to repack my suitcase and go back to Johannesburg. While I was there Noa asked me if I could go back to London with them. My heart broke a little at this request from one of the cutest 5 year old’s in my life!
Dishwasher Unit
This unit is bespoke and Dave finally put in the drawer underneath the dishwasher. In it you will find cling wrap, tin foil, Ziploc bags etc. The top section was meant to be used for recipe books. At the moment I am using it as a pantry shelf until my pantry is built. This means less walking to and from the cottage to get things.
FOMO Box April 2018
From the April 2018 FOMO box I used the Thai Green Curry Kit straight away. It included rice and poppadoms, so the extras have been put away to use at a later stage. I already have a garlic card and decided to actually start using it. It is fairly messy but gets the job done. The gin has been put into the fridge for summer, and the hot chocolate will be added to our overseas selection of hot drinks.
Guess the sticks
We bought these sticks when we were in France last April. Bev took half of them to make tea and she was not impressed with the result. I was not impressed with the lack of flavour when trying to infuse the milk for my ice cream. Can you guess what they are?
Kitchen Drawers
This set of kitchen drawers were the first to go in. They have made such a huge difference to my kitchen. There are a few things not in the correct place, and the drawer in drawer unit is still to be installed. But I am so impressed with the look!
Oven Drawers
The drawers next to the oven contain my Le Creuset oven dishes and roasting pans and dishes. The section at the bottom of the oven just finished it all off, and the tray unit is now being well used.
I am linking up this month with Sherry. Pop on over to see other #IMK posts.
Tandy, I loved reading about your family get together. x Your kitchen is looking great, but I have no idea what those sticks are….not even their French origin gives me a clue. x
The are licourice sticks 🙂
We remodeled our kitchen 8 years ago. It’s such a good feeling!
Ours is a new build so it has been very exciting 🙂
Ooh is this licorice root?
Yup it is 🙂
You must be an awesome aunt and the 5 year old loves you lots. Sorry about your uncle. I thought those sticks were some sort of sugar sticks. I had some in The Hague and it looked like that. Never would have guessed liquorice sticks..
Thanks for your sentiment Adiam, and the visit.
so sorry to hear about your uncle Tandy. it is really sad when the generation above starts to die off, bringing us closer to our own demise. thanks for joining in again. the more the merrier in IMK land, I say :=) Your new kitchen looks beautiful. are those cinnamon sticks? they look a bit different tho. cheers Sherry x
