March 2018 Showcasing In My Kitchen

March 2018 heralded the start of the next phase of kitchen building. Dave is doing the work himself and my kitchen drawers are looking amazing. I shall share photographs once they are all done. I went away for a long weekend to spend time with my parents and sister. Kerry was visiting from Australia and I left Dave to his own devices.

Edible Flowers

I used these edible flowers to decorate my set custard. I will have to come up with a good recipe for them. Do you have any in mind?

March 2018 #FOMO Box

I can open a shop selling paprika! This is the umpteenth time we have received this in our FOMO boxes. We also got another form of harissa and I am still using the first one and haven’t touched the second one we were sent. I sell Oryx desert salt if anyone is interested in getting some. Dave and I tried the colissons as soon as I had taken the photographs and put the burger press straight to work. It makes huge patties but actually this is OK as they are all the same size.

Small Measuring Set

One of my suppliers sent a product to me that should have had 100mls in each container. Some were short filled and so I measured out the liquid using my small measuring container and my measuring jug. One of the ingredients was extremely corrosive, eating straight into the plastic. I have now discarded both and bought this new nesting set to replace the small container. I love it as it can measure 1ml!

Microwave Plate Warmers

When we were in the UK last year I saw my cousin using these microwave plate warmers. They were put onto my list of things to buy and I found them this trip at Lakeland in Newcastle. These plate warmers / trivets are super heavy so that was the sum total of the shopping that I did. They work amazingly well and we are using them nearly every night.

Tea Hamper

I was sent this amazing tea hamper from Celeste Hewett of  C H Communications. I made iced tea using the Apple, Vanilla And Cinnamon tea bags.

  1. Persimmon chutney? Wow. That corrosive stuff sounds scary. Desert salt sounds great especially after reading how sea salt is full of plastics. Eek! Thanks for joining in IMK this month. Cheers S x

  2. Sounds like Dave is getting that kitchen done, nice! My edible flower suggestions would be pansies or nasturtiums, both would be so pretty, although I do think nasturtiums taste a little peppery.

  3. What stunning edible flowers! You could even candy them and use them to decorate a cake. The microwave plate warmers or trivets are interesting, would they keep food warm for any length of time? I usually just warm my plates (no metallic etching) in the microwave for a minute on high.

  4. Tandy, thank heavens you measured that mystery liquid before using it! OXO offers an enticing array of kitchen gadgets and you new measuring cups are cute and colorful. Your fuschias, too! (I learned that by reading your comment section — SO not a green thumb, ha!) The burger press does look massive, but consistent as you mentioned, and your almond flavored goodies sounded like a lovely treat.

I would ♥ to hear from you (comments will be visible when I reply)
