September 2018 Showcasing In My Kitchen

When a month goes to plan then I am super happy. And my blog plan is always to be a month ahead of myself. So, I am typing this up on the 4th of September 2018. I won’t finish the post today, but at least I will have started. Dave and I spent the last two weeks of the month in Italy and on the 25th we head to East London for motor racing.

Egg Cups

I had 6 egg cups already and went and bought another 2. These were used to serve the pea velouté. My guests poured the velouté over the pan-fried scallops. Knowing it would not be enough I placed the extra into a warmed tea-pot.

Eye Level Cupboard

Neither Dave nor I are fans are eye level cupboards. However, we needed one for the UPS system which works as a backup during power failures. We have 4 lights connected to this. The top cupboard houses the UPS and the bottom one contains my oils, salt and pepper grinders, as well as a few other everyday use items. The are on a soft close hinge system and open upwards.

Scullery Completed Drawers

My scullery drawers have finally been completed. The two on the far right are for cleaning materials and the top one in the middle has all my towels, cleaning and drying cloths. The bottom one in the middle has all my storage containers. At present the two left hand ones are being used as pantry drawers. Eventually once the pantry is in this will change. The top one will be for dog food and we will have to wait and see what goes into the bottom drawer.

When I posted my IMK post last month, my mom asked to see the drawer in drawer system. I chose the one I love the most. In the top section are my cups and saucers, espresso mugs and egg cups, and my various plates for blogging. At the bottom is all the paraphernalia needed for hot drinks as well as a few bowls I have collected over the years.

FOMO Box September 2018

The September 2018 box celebrates braai month. This is the alternative name for Heritage Day which was on the 24th. I gave the braai salt and refill to Mark as I still have ours. The rest has been put away for use sometime this month.

  1. Hi Tandy
Clever of you to get ahead with IMK posts. I like your drawers!:). Very handy. I used to have and use egg cups but I never do now. I keep a couple for sentiment sake. Have a great month. Cheers sherry

  2. You have such a lovely kitchen, Tandy. Mine is very old fashioned and needs re-doing but because we life half in and half out of South Africa now, we don’t want to invest the money. Very tiresome.

  3. Tandy, what a beautiful, functional kitchen you’ve planned (and waited for!), but even the most meticulously-laid-out plans are subject to revision, as you’ve since discovered. Loved how you adapted your egg cup collection to your pan-seared scallops with pea veloute’ (yum), plus keeping an eye on future functional possibilities for the drawers. Do what works best for YOU! Ironically, my son and I were just discussing “soft closing drawers” today — they “work a treat” as you folks say. 🙂 xo

  4. Such clean lines and soothing colors in your kitchen, Tandy. Happy October and I hope you had safe travels!

  5. Your idea of collecting the photos for IMK during the entire month is fun — sometimes I do it that way too, and sometimes a theme even emerges. Or not. Your storage organization is amazing. I just have too much stuff for that kind of neatness.

  6. I love how organized everything looks, and how well thought out. One of my goals when the winter weather sets in is to organize my pantry (something that seems to need doing at least once a year). I love the egg cups, I still have mine from when we lived in England as a child.

Where were you in Italy? We just got back ourselves.

    1. Thank you Liz – I really appreciate that comment. I would pop over and do your pantry if I could. We were in Sicily and Maratea. Where were you?

I would ♥ to hear from you (comments will be visible when I reply)
