Bones Kitchen & Bar, Woodstock South Africa

In December 2020 the kids asked if we could go out for dinner. Carli had mentioned how much she and James enjoyed Bones in Woodstock. So that is where we headed for a joint birthday dinner for the two of them.

Bones Kitchen & Bar

Bones Kitchen & Bar
Bones is for drinking, tasting, eating and meeting. It’s for an early dinner, a special lunch. For an office lunch to-go, a quick latte or a post-work ice cold lager. It’s for a very fine steak, a great piece of fish or a good, solid burger or a pasta and a glass of wine, or maybe just a ‘spoil me’ cocktail.

The Start Of Our Evening At Bones

The above description from their website is a perfect description of the space. The location lends itself mainly to business trade. Having spent much time at his previous establishment, The Moosehead, I was really looking forward to our meal at Bones.
Amazing Mains And Side
Wining and Dining

We chose the Waterford Pecan Stream Chenin Blanc (R195) to have with our meal. It was the perfect wine for the dishes we chose. For starters we had the Fried Squid (R95), Sauté Potato Gnocchi (R90) and Parmesan Bonbons (R90). They are most well known for these bonbons and it is a dish I would love to recreate at home. For our main course, Dave and I had the Cioppino (R210) and Carli and James had the Crispy Pork Belly (R195). The cioppino (fish stew) was generous, and I could easily make this a new favourite. We also had a side dish of Bones Mac & Cheese (R40) to share. Dessert for the table was the Rooibos Crème Brûlée (R75) and a very rich Chocolate & Hazelnut Torte (R75). The entire meal was great, and we had a memorable evening.
