House of Wolves opening line: Alone on his boat and half drunk, the Golden Gate Bridge off to his left and Alcatraz dead ahead, Joe Wolf started to sing about having left his heart in San Francisco.
My blurb:
Jenny Wolf lives and breathes football, but not enough to be in the family business. To her, coaching the local high school team is all that she needs. But when her father dies he leaves his NFL team to her. This goes against what her brothers feel is right, and she has to prove to them she deserves the chance. But it is not only family that is against her.
House of Wolves
A high-stakes stand-alone thriller, with cut-throat family dynamics in a business empire at its core, and power a struggle that turns deadly. Perfect for fans of Succession. The dynamics are simple in the Wolf family. They eat you if you let them.Joe Wolf has raised three sons and one daughter using the same cut-throat mentality that built his California business empire: Kill or be killed. So when he is found murdered on his yacht adrift in San Francisco Bay, SFPD detective Ben Cantor knows exactly where to begin his investigation. As the siblings vie for control of their father’s vast power and assets, the detective pieces together the hierarchy of the ‘pack of wolves’. All four have the means and the motive to commit murder.Meanwhile, a more sinister player lurks in the shadows, one who knows the Wolfs’ secrets better than Cantor ever will. And who wants them all dead.
My verdict:
I took this book with us overseas as it came highly recommended. I enjoyed the ins and outs of what goes on behind the scenes of the NFL. And Dave who knows very little about American football read it quicker than any other book he has read for a while. Add this to your list of books you buy this year if you are a sports fan.

You are making me think1 Way back when I was almost addicted to thrillers – especially political ones . . . and loved James Patterson . . ., time took its toll perchance one should take time away from the day-to-day and relax into such again . . . 🙂 ?
I find his books extremely easy to read 🙂
Patterson is a good writer.
And very prolific 🙂
I’d happily share this on Twitter but they are bouncing everything I send their way.
Twitter was not being a good ‘friend’ this weekend 🙂
