November 2019 was a super exciting month for us. And it was also very busy. We started off sorting out all the final plans for our overseas trip. And then we went to England. Other than spending time with the kids, we saw my cousins and aunt, celebrated a Bat Mitzvah and caught up with old friends. Less than a week after we got home a friends’ daughter came to spend time with us, in-between her studies. And her parents came to stay for a while as well, leaving today.
Creations out of my kitchen in November 2019
Rolling Pin
Carrying on with my birthday presents, I also got a new rolling pin. I have an old wooden one I have used for 3 decades. But this one is designed to be non-stick, and is great for shortcrust pastries.

Saffron
My parents went to Italy last year as an early celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. They went to Florence, where they had sent us for our honeymoon and came back with this saffron. They took a few day trips out of the city and the gift is really special.

Scanpan Pots
When my mom asked what I wanted for my birthday my first thought was to get one small pot to use for sauces. I showed her what I wanted and she told me I could have two. That was a big spoil and these have proved to be great. Not only for sauces, but for small portions of quinoa and mashed beans.

The Last Blackwood Top
Finally, Dave got around to ordering the wood for the last little bit of countertop. It is in our scullery and the space will be used for my juicer and breadmaker. Both of which don’t get nearly as much use as they should!

This is my November 2019 submission to the #IMK series, hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens. Pop on over to her blog to take a peek.

Happy Birthday dear Tandy! So nice to see that you were so spoilt by others as you’re always so generous yourself xxx
Thank you xx
people seem to know what kind of gifts you would like!
Oh, what lovely gifts! Those pots will last forever, and fresh wonderful saffron is such a special gift! I don’t know what a scullery is, but yours is beautiful. Clean lines, love the wood. Happy December!
Thank you – a scullery is a combination laundry / pantry / dishwashing area. Mine is not yet complete but I am hoping it will be soon 🙂

Your trip sounds great. Those little pots are so pretty, as well as obviously useful, and all your other new things look really good. I look forward to seeing what you make with saffron.

I have to think of something special 🙂
happy belated birthday tandy and thanks for joining in the last 2019 IMK. how the year has flown. i have a wooden rolling pin – the french kind, i think, with no handles. i love it and because it’s huon pine (full of oil) it doesn’t stick to pastry. or should i say pastry doesn’t stick to it? Love those scanpan pans! have a great christmas. cheers sherry
I shall have to look for one of those pins for my pasta 🙂
Wow looks like you’ve been busy! But happy birthday late!
We have been very busy 🙂
Tandy, sorry I’m late to the party but it sounds like you’ve had a wonderful celebration — your birthday, travel, guests, and even a final kitchen project finished. (Great job, Dave.) Wow, what a month! Loved your cooking creations, too — very international and a reflection of your diverse culinary talents. Also, saffron, swoon… a lovely gift with a sentimental story. The thing that caught my eye most though was your saucepans — I love tight-fitting lids. (Corny, I know, but they enhance flavor.) Wishing you the happiest of holidays and a tasty New Year to come, xo!
Thanks for the lovely message Kim, the saucepans are amazing and get used often 🙂
