10-a-day The Easy Way

The theory behind 10-a-day is to increase our daily intake of fruit and vegetables. This will significantly lower our risk of heart disease, stroke and common cancers. James Wong set out on a years’ quest to up his intake of fruit and vegetables using only one rule. Eat pretty much whatever you like, as long as you get 3 portions of fruit and veg at each meal. With a portion being 80g that really is not difficult to achieve.

Chapters are divided into:

My verdict:

For those of you looking for the science and research behind a way of eating, this book will tick the boxes. 10-a-day The Easy Way contains great insight into food, our moods and our health. With information about what counts and does not count, increasing your daily intake should really be easy. I loved the tricks James included and the fact that the book was not focussed on a raw diet. I found the lack of page numbers on every page very frustrating.

What I made:

I made the cheddar veg scones, but did not follow the recipe exactly as I wanted my vegetables to be chunky rather than processed. They were extremely tasty and worked perfectly well as soup dippers. These would be a great way to get extra veggies into your child’s diet.

Disclosure: I was sent the book to review by Jonathan Ball Publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. This post is in line with my blogging policy.
