23 ½ Lies opening line: Over the last three months, the SFPD homicide squad had been swamped by nightmarish murders of all types.
23 ½ Lies in collaboration with Maxine Paetro
When SFPD Sergeant Lindsay Boxer is called to investigate a crime scene, nothing can prepare her for what she finds: her estranged father gunned down execution style. The case will soon reveal to Lindsay a series life-altering truths . . .
Fallen Ranger opening line: Delia Marquez rides shotgun in the armored truck, staring out the window as the scenery of Central Texas rolls by.
Fallen Ranger co-authored with Andrew Bourelle
A series of armed robberies are linked to a gang of motorcycle bandits. Rory Yates, the hero of Texas Ranger, is tasked with hunting them down.
Watch Your Back opening line: The sign towered above the horizontal suburb like a pagan shrine: a wide open, baleful eye perched atop a pyramid, reminiscent of the Masonic symbol on the obverse side of the dollar bill.
Watch Your Back written together with Loren D. Estleman
A starving artist is paid to expose his client’s cheating wife. But no amount of money can protect him from a world of corruption . . .
My verdict:
I really enjoyed 23 ½ Lies which was a quick snippet into the Women’s Murder Club. Fallen Ranger was a grippy follow on to the previous Texas Ranger novel, and with promises of more to come. I did not enjoy Watch Your Back as much as the other two short stories in this collection.
