Behind Closed Doors, Catherine Alliott

Behind Closed Doors opening lines: I arrived at my parents’ house to find that, as usual, my sister had beaten me to it. As I crunched up the gravel drive to the crumbling red-brick farmhouse, I spotted Helena’s shiny blue BMW already parked squarely outside the gabled porch.

Behind Closed Doors

My blurb:

Lucy has many secrets to keep, and running away seems to be the best way to keep them. Her marriage is finally over, her parents need help, and she has decided to be their caregiver. But life is about to get in the way of all of her plans to escape. And with the truth threatening to surface, Lucy is not sure who to trust, and which way to turn.

Behind Closed Doors
From the outside, anyone would think that Lucy Palmer has it all.
But when her marriage comes to an unexpected end, everything turns upside down in a flash.
As the truth of her marriage threatens to surface, Lucy seizes the opportunity to retreat to her parents’ farmhouse.
But Lucy gets more than she bargained for when she moves home – especially when she crosses paths with an old flame.
Revisiting her mistakes forces Lucy to confront the secrets she’s been keeping from herself and those she loves.
Is she able to leave the door to her past firmly closed?
My verdict:

Hidden amongst the pages of this light read is a little bit of violence that sadly exists in many more marriages than we care to imagine or know. But love wins out in the end, and this is why I recommend this novel.
