Bosh Healthy Vegan
I totally agree with their sentiment to ditch the diets and that healthy eating is for life. This is more than a recipe book as part of it is dedicated to “how to live well”. The 6 pillars they emphasise are:
- sleep
- move
- relax
- love yourself
- love others
- live with purpose
They also include 5 golden rules to eating well:
- the rainbow ratio – 50|25|25 – fruits and vegetables | whole grains | proteins
- mix up your plate
- eat your greens
- aim for 80/20 – 80% healthy / 20% naughty
- get your vitamins
For the vitamin list Henry and Ian recommend the following:
- Iron
- Iodine
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin B12
- Calcium
- Vitamin A
- Magnesium
- Zinc
- Omega 3
For someone on a vegan or vegetarian diet, Vitamin B12 is extremely important. However, before starting any vitamin regime it is best to consult with a professional. Personally, I cannot take calcium supplements so it is worth noting that this list will not be suitable for everyone.

Recipes that caught my eye:
- puttanesca potato stew (p70)
- healthy saag paneer (p73)
- nasi goreng (p75)
- Indian spiced tomato soup (p86)
- niçoise salad (p97)
- satay salad (p101)
- middle-eastern spiced chickpea salad (p104)
- salsa verde couscous (p107)
- Cat’s curryflower (p148)
- salad lasagne (p154)
- healthier pizza dough (p165)
- hoisin sauce (p173)
- jacked flapjacks (p203)
- banana berry ice cream (p204)
- Bosh! bars (p224)
My impressions:
For those of you on a calorie controlled diet, this recipe book is great as it includes the calorie information for each recipe. There is also information on whether the recipes are low fat; low sugar; full of fibre; and/or protein packed. Protein replacement is also vital for a vegan diet.

What I made:
I made the chickpea salad and the salsa verde couscous the same day. We were responsible for the salads for New Year’s Eve and I was glad to have two new recipes to try. Both went down a treat and variations will be repeated.
