I Will Find You opening lines: I am serving the fifth year of a life sentence for murdering my own child. Spoiler alert: I didn’t do it.
My blurb:
David Burroughs is in prison for murdering his son. The evidence against him was overwhelming. He was covered in blood and there was an eyewitness. But then his son is seen, very much alive. Now David needs to call on old friendships and family ties to prove he did not kill his son. But in order to do so first he needs to break out of prison, and then he needs to convince his ex-wife he is not who she thinks he is.
I Will Find You
David and Cheryl Burroughs are living the dream – married, a beautiful house in the suburbs, a three year old son named Matthew – when tragedy strikes one night in the worst possible way.David awakes to find himself covered in blood, but not his own – his son’s. And while he knows he did not murder his son, the overwhelming evidence against him puts him behind bars indefinitely.Five years into his imprisonment, Cheryl’s sister arrives – and drops a bombshell. She’s come with a photograph that a friend took on vacation at a theme park. The boy in the background seems familiar – and even though David realizes it can’t be, he knows it is.It’s Matthew, and he’s still alive.David plans a harrowing escape from prison, determined to do what seems impossible – save his son, clear his own name, and discover the real story of what happened that devastating night.
My verdict:
This is a page turner from one of my favourite authors. A great read and I did not want to put the book down. Add this to your list of books to read this year if you are a fan of Harlan Coben, or just like a good murder mystery / crime novel.
About the author:
Harlan Coben was the first ever author to win all three major crime awards in the US. He is now a global bestseller with his mix of powerful stand-alone thrillers and Myron Bolitar crime novels. He has appeared in the bestseller lists of The Times, the New York Times, Le Monde, Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times.
Publishing information:
Penguin Random House South Africa sent me this novel to review.
