Listen for the Lie, Amy Tintera

Listen for the Lie opening lines: A podcaster has decided to ruin my life, so I’m buying a chicken. I make plans for this chicken as I sit in my cubicle at Walter J. Brown Investment Services, waiting to be fired.

Listen for the Lie

My blurb:

Lucy’s grandmother is the only one who believes her, and believes in her. So when she insists Lucy comes home to celebrate her birthday, Lucy cannot refuse. But home means being confronted all over again with Savvy’s murder. And even though Lucy doesn’t think she killed Savvy, she is not so sure. Everyone seems to think so, or has told her she did it. Can Ben’s podcast finally shine the light on the memories she lost that night?

Listen for the Lie
Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .
You probably already know about me. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend.
You probably think I did it, too. That’s OK, I get it. Being found wandering the streets covered in her blood wasn’t a great look.
Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it?
And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out. But will I be able to live with myself if it turns out it was me?
And if it wasn’t, will digging into the secrets of the night I forgot make me the next target of whoever did?
My verdict:

Love story aside, the murder mystery aspect of this book was really good! Not only that, but all the relationship dynamics that feature makes the book seem more like real life. Even if you can work out who the killer is, working out why they killed Savvy might keep you guessing right to the end.
