Did you miss my April post? I thought I had done it, and that the post had disappeared. I woke up on the 1st of May 2019 expecting the in my kitchen post to publish. And when it didn’t I went to take a look, and there was nothing there! This is the first time in forever that I have skipped a month. And I don’t think anyone else but me noticed. Had we been at home I could have quickly done something about it. But as we were in France I just had to let it go. May was an amazingly busy month for me. We got back from overseas on the 5th and then had a 4 day work week. The penultimate week of the month we went racing in Port Elizabeth. And the week after that I was in Johannesburg for work.
April 2019 FOMO Box
In this box we got some coffee beans and quinoa which are always welcome. The maple syrup will most definitely be used as well as the stock powder. The Darling toffees did not last long as Dave’s sweet tooth saw to them within a week.
Anchois
I am a little obsessed with white anchovies and we always buy them at the fresh produce markets in Europe. We decided to bring some home with us, and these anchois were really good. I took extra special care when packing them and wish I had brought more than just one as they did not last that long.
Chocolate Fondant Biscuits
Bev and I bought so many types of biscuits while we were in France. We both liked the ones with the chocolate topping and I found some sugar free ones to bring home. Dave has taken a liking to them as well and I am getting about 1 for the 3 he sneaks in.
May 2019 FOMO Box
The May 2019 FOMO box contained olive oil which of course I can never have enough of. The vegetable peeler has gone into our overseas bag as we had a really shoddy one on the barge. The savoury seasoning is like aromat and not something I would usually buy. But it is open and will be used for braai salt.
May 2019 New Chocolates
Bev and I always look for new flavours of chocolates to try when we are away. I loved the pamplemouse rose and it is already available in South Africa. The figue was not as intense as it could have been and the one I brought home was a gift for a friend who loves Lindt chocolate and figs. My favourite was the citron gingembre 🙂
This post is part of the #IMK series, hosted by Sherry. Pop on over to see who else has showcased what is new in their kitchens this month.

Oh how strange to have your posts disappear! I’m not sure I’d know what to do about that even if I was home. Looks like you had a wonderful trip.
We did indeed, thank you 🙂
Those chocolate fondant biscuits look fantastic Tandy! Just the thing with a cuppa tea. And a nap =)
They are so yummy 🙂
Those white anchovies are really wonderful. I had them in Spain, and also know a couple of stores near home where they are sold. I never try to bring fishy things in my luggage — too risky!
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Mae, I probably should not bring them home with me either, but I cannot resist 🙂
Papaya chutney has me the most intrigued, but I wouldn’t say no to those flavoured chocolate bars either.
I must open it some time 🙂
I do not know about these boxes that you get, Tandy. The certainly contain some great foodstuffs.
Most months there are a few things I use, and a few I don’t. But those items get gifted which saves me on shopping 🙂
Thanks for sharing the contents of your boxes and the finds from your travels!
Thank you for the visit 🙂
hi tandy
what a shame about your post for last month. How mysterious that it just disappeared:) Love the maple syrup and olive oil. I am using a spicy maple syrup atm, which has serrano chillies in it. It’s great for bacon and eggs! mm yum to grapefruit lindt chocolate. i love their chocolate balls with grapefruit jelly inside. Oh yes i am a big fan of white anchovies too. they have such a fabulous taste and texture; very unlike the silver ones. I bet France was marvellous. have a great june ….cheers sherry
I must try and flavour some maple syrup with chillies!
How do you use the white anchovies? I’ll have to keep a look out for them. Wonderful treats in your kitchen this month.
We just eat them as is, or on top of crackers 🙂
The woes of disappearing blog posts… hopefully that won’t happen again. Lots of lovely goodies in your kitchen Tandy. Love Lindt chocolate and haven’t seen the rose grapefruit before. White anchovies sound delicious. 🙂
It was just released when we went to France 🙂
Your streak of IMKs broken! I just thought it was because you were travelling. Massel stock is my absolute favourite. I use it in liquid and powder form. I was all out of liquid the other week and had to fall back on another brand Anthony had bought. It was horrible! I’ve stocked up as a result and will be ready when the zombies come, in case they need a risotto. Gosh, I’d love that fig chocolate. I had a delicious Cote D’Or block of something or other when we were in France (from Lidle of all places) but unfortunately, that brand is available here.
A lovely tour ; )

We found some great Cote D’Or chocolates while in France – and Lidl is a great place to shop 🙂
How frustrating to have your post disappear – though hopefully you were enjoying france too much to worry too much 🙂 I love the sound of the fig chocolate (I am a sucker for a new flavour and have not seen that one here – yet!) ARe those empty bottles in your FOMO box? I am curious about them.
Yes, they were empty! I will use them for salad dressings etc.
