Mo And Rose, Soekershof, South Africa

Mo And Rose at Soekershof was our choice of place to stay for our wedding anniversaries last year. With two swimming pools, boules and a peaceful garden, you might not want to leave.

Here you will find the most amazing cacti garden beneath the majestic Langeberg mountains. Klaasvoogds West is the perfect place to explore the Robertson Wine Valley, and Mo and Rose is the idyllic getaway you need while doing so. With 8 cottages clustered in the gardens you can choose between the 2 historical maisonette ones, or 6 single level rooms. John and Dorothy were in pool room 6, a luxury room with an extra length king size bed, bathroom with bath and shower and a beautiful patio overlooking the pool.

Garden room 3

Our luxury room was slightly smaller but also with a king size extra length bed. We had a bath as well as a double shower. This meant we could each adjust the shower head to suit ourselves which helped as the pressure was quite low. Both rooms have air-conditioning, a mini bar, coffee and tea facilities plus a Nespresso machine with 2 free coffee pods. Our lounge area included a desk and John and Dorothy’s had a sleeper couch. We overlooked the garden and had it been winter we could both have made use of the fireplaces in the rooms. A safety deposit box, DSTV with DVD player and wireless internet access are standard for all rooms.

Restaurant Succulent

Chef Werner Snoek created what has to be one of the best meals we have ever had. Dinner was a luxurious affair and as we were celebrating, I did not take any photographs. We had a three course meal with lots of extras, wine and digestifs. Breakfast the following morning was at the restaurant and started with a continental platter. This was followed by a hot breakfast selection and I had the ‘Succulent’ crumpet topped with bacon,  brie and maple syrup.

6th and 17th wedding anniversaries

Mo and Rose placed a bottle of champagne in each room for us to celebrate with. This little touch will go a long way as I suspect we will go back this year. The fairy lights around the bed helped make the evening feel even more special. The small extras, like an amenity kit, flowers and healing earth bath products were perfect. What could have been improved upon was a turndown service, hooks and shelves in the shower plus hooks for the bathrobes.

  1. That breakfast looks delicious! I always enjoy places with really nice rooms like that. So sad that the world is shutting down and no one can do things like that for the time being.
