NYPD Red 5 opening line: There were only four words beneath the tattoo of the Grim Reaper on Aubrey Davenport’s inner left thigh.
My blurb:
Detective Zach Jordan is teamed up with his ex-lover in the elite squad of NYPD Red. Kylie MacDonald graduated top of their class and she is a great detective. And she has no issue working with Zach. They are the elite of the elite and tasked to discover who has killed Aubrey Davenport. At the same time they are working on a case that will take them halfway across the world to unravel. Will time alone on a private jet with only one bedroom affect their working relationship?
NYPD Red 5
Book five in the bestselling NYPD Red series by James Patterson. When it’s a bad night for New York City’s rich and famous, they call NYPD Red.
A renowned documentary filmmaker is found dead after a sex game goes horribly wrong. Across town, a homemade bomb explodes at a charity benefit. The only cops who can work both cases are Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald of NYPD Red the – elite, hard-charging, investigative task force called in exclusively for New York City’s most high-profile crimes.
Racing against the clock to keep the city’s most prominent citizens safe, Zach and Kylie uncover enough corruption, blackmail, drugs, sex, and vengeance to shock even the most jaded of New Yorkers. But when their investigation threatens to expose the very citizens they’re supposed to protect, Zach and Kylie must put aside their unrequited feelings for one another and follow the truth, no matter where it leads.
My verdict:
This is the third NYPD Red book I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. James Patterson has a way of making you invested in the characters and so you want the best outcome for them.

I read some amazing stat about James Patterson about how frequently his books are sold. I guess it’s because as you say he has a way of making you invested in the characters!
He is a prolific author which also helps I’m sure.
