Paranoia opening lines: Ralph Stein tried to swallow. His throat was too dry. He’s been in tight spots before, but nothing like this.
My blurb:
Mary Catherine is trying to keep it together, but life doesn’t work the way she wants it to. Confined to bed, she has to let the children get on with it. And, Michael has been asked by someone high up in the police force to do her a favour. Celeste Cantor would like to keep the details just between the two of them, but Michael knows he has to involve his partner Rob to make sure they catch the killer.
Paranoia
A serial killer is taking out cops in NYC. Could Detective Michael Bennett be next?Michael Bennett says a prayer every time he witnesses a death. In his line of work, it happens too often. But lately he’s attended so many police funerals that his deepening sadness is crossing into the zone of suspicion.Bennett must find the person responsible for the deaths of his friends – before he becomes their next target. With a new baby on the way, Bennett’s protective instincts – as a father, a colleague and a detective – have never faced a bigger test.
My verdict:
This is the 17th Michael Bennett book that James Patterson has written in collaboration with James O. Born. Each one is better than the last, and I really enjoyed the plot twists of this novel. You do not have to read from the first book, so pick up a copy if you are looking for a good crime story.

This sounds like a good book Tandy. James Patterson has written a lot of good novels. Best, Pauline(Happy Retirees Kitchen.)
He and his co-authors write very well in my opinion 🙂
Hi Tandy, an interesting premise.
Very much so!
This sounds like a great read. I am currently cat sitting at my daughter’s apartment for 5 days so it looks like I have the perfect quiet setting to dive into a book.
Nice to have some peace and quiet!
I’m so bad remembering names, but I think I’ve read one book of this author. Anyway, the plot sounds intriguing – need to check it out!
He is prolific, so I am sure you have read something he has written 🙂
