Shiraz SA Awards
This year marked the 10th anniversary of Shiraz SA. Shiraz SA is the official association for all producers of Shiraz in South Africa. This was also the 6th year of the Shiraz Challenge. The Shiraz SA Awards are to recognise the top 12 submitted wines. These were judged by a panel of 6 people who tasted different wines at the same time. There was no discussion between them and the results were audited.

The awards ceremony and lunch
We started off with canapés in the garden of Rhebokskloof Wine Estate which was hosting the Shiraz SA Awards. This was followed by a sit down lunch which included the awards ceremony. For starters we had a broccoli and blue cheese soup. This was followed by slow braised Springbok shank in order to promote the 7 days of Shiraz and Venison which took place from the 11th to the 17th of June. Dessert was a death by chocolate tart with a raspberry cream.
Disclosure: I was invited to the Shiraz SA Awards. I was not asked to write a blog post about the event. This post is in line with my blogging policy.
Take a look at what was previously posted on Lavender and Lime on June 27:
-
- 2016 – Savoury Mince Baked Pirozhki
- 2012 – I Love My Country!
- 2011 – Le Creuset Evening At Silwood
This looks like such a great event – good food & wines, just perfect!
It was 🙂
