Showcasing August 2017
August 2017 got off to the perfect start. My kitchen was busy to start off with, and then Dave and I went away for a week for motor racing. I am sharing some new goodies with you, my lovely readers, and with Sherry, our host for In My Kitchen. If you would like to take part in the #IMK series please pop into her blog.
Farro
I bought a box of farro when we were in Italy earlier this year. So far I have made a delicious farro salad with some of it. I have plans for a risotto style side dish with the rest.
July 2017 FOMO
This contained a turmeric drink which is really palatable and something I will buy again. I added the activated granola to the next batch I made for Dave. The wine will be set aside for summer, together with the rose lemonade. The rest of the goodies have been added to my storage boxes for when I need them.
August 2017 FOMO Box
This box contained a bottle of Gin which will wait for summer together with the pink tonic. I had already purchased a container of the unsweetened cocoa drink which I think is OK, but not great. I am using it with the turmeric drink to add the sweetness it needs. The salt is one of the products I sell and the mustard is in the fridge ready to be tried.
Kenwood Blender
As I want everything new for my second kitchen I bought a Kenwood blender. The price was reasonable and I am mostly happy with it. The plug is a round 2 pin Euro plug which is a pain as our standard ones here are flat. I have bought an adaptor for it. I am keeping it in the storage box and when Dave eventually gets around to building the drawers for the kitchen I will have him make a mould of the base of the box as it has slots for everything.
Joseph Joseph Wash And Drain Bowl
Given that we are recycling as much water as possible, I asked my mom for this Joseph Joseph Wash And Drain Bowl for my birthday. It fits perfectly into the sink and I am using it for rinsing off the dishes. It can also be used to carry dishes from the table to the scullery.

Rose lemonade sounds lovely.
Have a super day.

I have yet to try it 🙂
Those FOMO boxes look awesome!! Especially that turmeric drink… I want to try that cold fermented wine, too!
I love cold fermented wine – we drink a fair bit of it 🙂
Looks like another great month in your kitchen Tandy, have fun to outfit your brand new kitchen…..
Thanks, I think we are at a pause at present 🙂
hi Tandy
thanks for joining in this month. i have a blender like yours (without the euro plug of course) and i have learned to love all the attachments. took me a while to figure it out; i must be slow-witted:=) i keep seeing farro on a lot of blogs lately. funny how that always happens. see something once, and you see it everywhere. cheers have a good month sherry
I also took a while to figure out the splash guard! Hope you try farro, it is quite unusual 🙂
Ooh tell me more about the wash bowl. I’ve never had one but a house I was staying in had one and I wasn’t quite sure how to use it!
It is amazing. The plug at the bottom works like an ordinary plug. I use it to rinse my dishes and then let the water out into a bucket to recycle it 🙂
I have never seen a washbowl like that! How clever. 🙂
It is very clever!
There was farro in a salad brought in for a working lunch yesterday – quite delicious. I will be embracing the farro in my kitchen!
I love this wash and drain bowl. I haven’t heard of it before! We need to recycle more water in California as we seem to be on the tail end of a drought. Brilliant concept! I’m going straight to Amazon to see if they carry it.
Your drought was terrible but it must be a relief to know it is over 🙂
What a great month in your kitchen – would like a Kenwood Blender looks very practical!
It is very useful Miriam 🙂
Want one of those wash bowls, nifty idea.
They are excellent 🙂
Some lovely equipment here, Tandy. I love that wash bowl, my UK cousin has one in her house and I love this idea.
This has been a great water saver for us 🙂
Love the new wash basin Tandy and of course lots of healthy ingredients in your kitchen… hope hubby builds those drawers soon 🙂
Moya, I doubt it will be this year 😉
Those in-sink bowls are also very popular in the UK. Lots of good things in your kitchen, as always. Following you now on Instagram, so will stay connected there instead of FB.
Thanks, now I know why I am no longer getting your updates in my Facebook feed.
Just wonderful. The Kenwood blender looks awesome.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the visit Susan 🙂
