Using 4 ingredients, including my own homemade nut butter I came up with a healthy chocolate drink. This is perfect for me to enjoy after a training session at gym.

I wonder if brands realize how much it costs a blogger in ingredients? Recently I made a few recipes using a new (to me) product. I chose to send the company an email letting them know I had used their product. I did not ask anything of them in return. And they could use the recipe to promote their product if they chose to. Of course, in return I would be getting exposure. But this would in a sense cover the cost of the ingredients. The response was requesting that I name the brand specifically in my recipes. Given that I only do this for brands who have paid me, I didn’t think it was fair to do so for them. They could not understand that I was giving them recipes to use at no cost to them. In fact, they were the beneficiaries of my time and money.

There are a lot of us out there in the food blogging arena who do not blog full-time. We use our own salaries to pay for ingredients and recipes are developed in our spare time. This blog is partly a hobby and mostly a passion. I love cooking, and sharing recipes. I enjoy using new ingredients and testing them out. Sometimes with great success and other times not so much. Some recipes I create are intricate and involved. And others like this healthy chocolate drink are simple. Do you as a food blogger do so full-time, or part-time like me?

So many brands have no idea how to interact with bloggers. Even if you blog full time like I do you get people asking for the world for nothing. So frustrating!
It is very frustrating!
I’m a part-timer too, though my blog is my launching pad for my other work. This drink sounds awesome. I haven’t seen hazelnut butter here before, but I will definitely look for it.
The hazelnut better is really easy to make 🙂
I am going to try this recipe for Michael, Tandy. It sounds great. I too blog as a hobby but I also use it as a platform to promote my books and writing so indirectly it is financially beneficial to me. I am giving up full time employment at the end of next week and will only be sub-contracting on a part time basis. I want to devote my time to my writing passion.
I wish you all the best with your writing Robbie 🙂
I love chocolates in my dishes and a good and healthy drink which includes chocolate is always welcome. Do you think that making this drink with soy milk would be a good idea?
It should work perfectly with soy milk 🙂
Hi Tandy, love that you added cinnamon to this, looks delicious. I am a part time blogger so it is definitely a hobby.
I think sometimes it is easier when it is a hobby 🙂
Oooo, almost like nutella milk. I’ll bet that is good!
Never thought of it that way 🙂
I make such a similar drink Tandy, it really hits the spot. I’ll often add a bit of honey as well.
I think honey is a great addition 🙂
Oh!!! It’s awesome drink. It’s too yummy. I really like it. Thanks for sharing such a kind of healthy drink.
My pleasure Ravi 🙂
