What did November 2017 hold in store for you? We had no electricity, huge fires and some celebrations. Faye turned 90 and her party included friends and family from all over the world. Dave went away racing and I got to spend a few nights eating soft-boiled eggs for dinner. I served them on toast with a mushroom ketchup recipe I am working on. Without boring you further, here is what was new in my kitchen last month.
6 Hole Loose Bottom Pan
I thought this would be the perfect pan to make my mince pies. And they really worked out well. All I need to do is perfect the way I line the pastry in the tin.
Baking Paper
I bought baking paper in the UK. This baking paper from Tesco is still by far the best I have used. I re-use my sheets in my bread baking so this should last some time. I also got some pre-cut rounds to do away with the waste when I bake using my springform tin.
Homtini
The wonderful Charles Withington sent me a message about how he was enjoying a glass of Homtini. When I told him how much I loved the wine he arranged with Fairview to send me a bottle. It came in a box showcasing the timeline of the farm, from 1693 when it was granted to the first settler, to 2016 when the cellar went online.
Olive Oil Pourer
Dave spotted this while we were browsing in a store in Oxford and we bought it to use with our olive oil. This is so much easier than taking the lid on and off.
November 2017 FOMO Box
The November 2017 FOMO Box theme was Mexican. I am looking forward to trying out the masa harina flour and drinking the Naked Mexican beers. The slabs of seed will be saved for when we can water again and the piri piri peppers have been added to olive oil to make a new batch of chilli oil.
I am linking up with Sherry to showcase what was new in my kitchen in November 2017.

Lots of nice new things here! Parchment baking paper never took off in my habitual ways, but I’ve been experimenting with sil-pat mats that might resemble your round ones. I found that meatballs just rolled off the surface.
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I have two silpats but one is too big for my baking tray and the other is hexagonal so not good for my round tins.
Sounds like you have had quite the month, when my husband travels I eat lots of lentils, lol! Anyway great things in your kitchen, so nice of Charles Withington to send you a bottle of wine.
Lentils are the one thing I do not eat!
Nice purchases Tandy! I wish all bottles came with those pourers. It’s so much neater 😀
I am going to get more. Shout if you need some xx
Yes I’ve just discovered English baking paper in our stores and have found it much stronger than the other stuff:) those olive oil pourers are great aren’t they? Have a fabulous Christmas ? Tandy and thanks for being part of IMK this year. Cheers Sherry x
All the best as well for you and your family xox
