The Divorce opening lines: When the police arrive, how will I explain the dead bodies in the house? Only one dead body would be easier to explain.

My blurb:
On the surface of it, Naomi has it all. The perfect husband who manages a hedge fund. A beautiful house where she has made a home for her son. And the life of a woman who has no need to work. But that is what she wants the world to see. She does not want her friends to know that her marriage is on the rocks. And she does not want her lawyer to know anything but the story she is presenting to him. But then, the truth starts to come out, and Naomi will do anything to protect herself from it.
The Divorce
What is a happily ever after really worth?
Naomi was living the quintessential love story. Boy meets girl. They fall in love, get married, buy a dream house, start a family…
Then—he kicks her out, hires the city’s best divorce lawyers, drains their accounts, and takes up with a 20-something.
It’s a brutal end to the story. Naomi should accept defeat: move into a dingy apartment, get back into the workforce, and piece together the shattered remains of her life.
Except, why should she?
Instead, Naomi fixates on her husband’s new girlfriend. What begins as cynical curiosity soon twists into obsession—and then into something far darker. As Naomi uncovers secrets she never imagined, she realizes her own life may be in danger.
But if it keeps her perfect family intact, isn’t it worth it?
My verdict:
Knowing how well Freida McFadden manages to add twists to her novels, I looked all over for clues when reading this book. Needless to say, one twist remained well hidden until the end. A perfect quick weekend read!
