The Picasso Heist, James Patterson

The Picasso Heist opening lines: Tennis anyone? Growing up, I remember my mother really wanting me to learn how to play the sport.

The Picasso Heist

My blurb:

Halston needs to play the long game. She has everyone on her side including the most important players in her scenario. And to succeed she needs to make sure everyone stays on course, and follows the script. But life is never like we plan it, and when she needs to pivot, she needs to do it quickly, and decisively. Her main aim is to see her father freed, and the person who is truly to blame sent away for life. But, at what cost?

The Picasso Heist
A rare masterpiece by Picasso is about to go to auction, and the whole world is watching.
But bright art student Halston Graham sees an opportunity. One that could secure millions for her future – and freedom for her wrongly imprisoned father…
To pull off the crime of the century, she must assemble an unlikely crack team: an expert in forgery, a ruthless mob boss, and an eccentric fashion designer.
In a game where trust is a luxury and failure is not an option, will Halston’s brilliance be enough to outsmart her enemies?
My verdict:

To make a long con work, you need a Hitter, a Hacker, a Grifter and a Thief, if you believe Leverage Redemption, the TV show. And this book has all of that and so much more. Based on a true story, Halston manages to make every part of her con work. You need to keep your wits about you when reading this book, which could be a little confusing at times. But, I can highly recommend this novel co-authored by Howard Roughan. This is by far the best James Patterson book I have read this year.
