Woman Of G-d, James Patterson

Woman Of G-d opening line: The story had begun deep inside the Vatican, had leaked out into the city of Rome, and within days had whipped around the globe with the momentum of a biblical prophecy.

Woman Of G-d

My blurb:

Brigid has a deep faith in her religion. She believes in G-d even when she thinks He has forsaken her. First in South Sudan, then in Jerusalem and Germany and lastly in her home country, America. Through everything that happens to Brigid her love for G-d never wavers. And she firmly believes that G-d speaks to her. She can feel his presence in so many ways and the message is always the same “be with”. Brigid goes from being a Doctor to becoming a Priest, and in between a wife and mother. Will she turn the Catholic Church on its head?

Woman Of G-d

St. Peter’s Square, Rome.

White smoke signals that a new Pope has been chosen.

The world is watching as massive crowds gather in Rome, waiting for news of a new Pope. It’s a turning point that could change the Catholic Church for ever, as one of the rumoured candidates, Brigid Fitzgerald, would be the first female Pope in history.

But Brigid has made a legion of powerful enemies and is a target for all those who fear that the Church has lost its way – dangerous adversaries who won’t accept challenges to tradition.

Locked in a deadly, high-stakes battle with forces determined to undermine her, Brigid must confront her enemies before she loses everything… including her life.

My verdict:

I have an interesting religious background with my Grandmother having been born Catholic and my mother schooled at a Convent. I was raised in a Jewish household and tolerance for everyone was a key message. This book is about faith and tolerance and experiencing love for G-d in its simplest form. You do not need to be Catholic to add this book to your reading list. The story itself, without the religious connotations is brilliant.
