Zest, Gordons Bay, South Africa

Zest

I have been remiss in writing about Zest in Gordons Bay but only because time has not been on my side. Today my mission is to clear my desk before we go on leave and so I am scheduling posts like crazy. Dave and I were invited by Zomato for a meetup at what is a local restaurant for us. We had been once before and I was looking forward to the opportunity to go again. They offer a small, limited menu and you can expect changes every day. Each chef in the restaurant has input in the menu which allows them to cook with confidence.

What we ate and drank

We started with arancini stuffed with mozzarella which was followed by camembert served with pineapple. This was paired with the Pear Tree White which is a Chenin Blanc, Viognier blend. Our next course was an aubergine roulade paired with the Franschhoek Cellars unwooded Chardonnay, followed by swordfish. This was paired with Riebeeck Cellars Pinotage Rosé. The slow braised smoked pork neck was paired with the Riebeeck Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. Dessert was a passion fruit sorbet ‘champagne’ float served with a glass of JC Le Roux La Domaine.

By phoning +27 21 300 7261, or popping in at 71 Beach Road Gordons Bay. The setting is stunning. Be prepared to walk a block or two as parking might be difficult during season.

Dave and I are on leave. We will be back at work on the 9th of January. I will start replying to comments then. I wish you all the best over the festive season.
