8 Months Left opening lines: Jimmy Cunniff calls to tell me to get dressed, we’re taking a ride. “Am I allowed to ask where we’re going?”
My blurb:
Jane is trying to juggle it all. Cancer treatments, her love life, her work life, and looking after her dog. But there is something more that is going on. Something that started way before the first time she defended Rob Jacobson for triple homicide. Somehow Jimmy has to find the start of the rot, before everyone gets killed. Can Jane carry on with her defence knowing that she might end up dead? And only after the people sent to kill her have killed those she loves.
8 Months Left
Jane Smith is running out of time . . .Her repeat client, Rob Jacobson, is the unluckiest of the unlucky. No sooner is he accused of killing a family of three in the Hamptons than a second family is gunned down.He says he’s being set up – again. Despite the odds, Jane believes him.Now she must mount the most complex investigation of her career. But she’s facing her own battle too. A terminal medical condition. The defence may never rest.
My verdict:
This novel carries on from 12 Months To Live, also co-authored by Mike Lupica. Figuring out the person who ties everyone together is not as easy as it seems. But I had an inkling early on into the book. And I was really pleased to have got it correct. This is a great read, and there is a promise of a third book to come.
