April 2020 started in a way no-one could have predicted at the beginning of the year. Covid-19 meant we were in lockdown. I write my blog posts a month in advance and each morning I went in to edit my ending message. I spent a lot more time in the kitchen of course and stuck to my routine.
Creations from my kitchen April 2020
Adjustable Storage Rack
I first saw this about 2 years ago, before I had my baking drawer in place. And then when Dave put the drawer in, I could not find one. And I really needed this adjustable storage rack as the most used baking tray was always on the bottom. In March I found one at Yuppiechef and I didn’t think twice about buying it. It makes getting the tin out that I need so much easier.
Lavender And Lime Sweets
When we were in Johannesburg in December we went to Irene Farm for an outing. I will eventually get around to blogging about that. At the farm stall I saw these Lavender And Lime sugar free drops and of course it went without saying that I had to have them. My mom bought them for me and I finally got around to opening them. The lime is not punchy enough, and the lavender is a bit too much. I shall have to think of a way to use them in baking.
Lemon, Ginger And Turmeric
According to the note in Infused Waters, this Lemon, Ginger And Turmeric water is a great way to cleanse your digestive system and kickstart your metabolism. I have been drinking this during the April 2020 lockdown as ginger and lemon are so good for you during flu season. Take 2.5cm ginger, 5cm turmeric and thinly slice them. Bruise them in a mortar and pestle and then add to your tea pot with the juice of 1 lemon. Add 500mls boiling water and leave to infuse for 5 minutes before drinking. Keep in mind turmeric is a natural food colouring. My tea pot strainer is now yellow!
Tea, Coffee, Sugar
My parents were meant to come for the Easter weekend and each time they visit I add something to the guest bedroom. This year I bought a new container for the tea, coffee and sugar. I like things to be neat and tidy, and this certainly helped.
This is my May 2020 submission to the #IMK series, hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens. Pop on over to her blog to take a peek.

Flatten the curve!
It has definitely been a strange few months. Hope you’re keeping well, Tandy!
We are all good, thank you! And hope you are too?
Thank you, Tandy. I’m with you on the ginger, turmeric and lemon drink. Always goes down well. I like your ‘tin rack’ too. A good idea. Take care . x
I could do with another one as it is so handy 🙂
Your baking rack looks really useful. I find myself wondering where I could put one —- assuming that I could find one online. It must be very strange to have all those posts written in advance and then find life so unpredictable!
be well… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It has been quite a challenge with all my posts written so far in advance, but it is also helpful knowing it is done. Hope you find the rack, and a place for it 🙂
nice job sticking to your routine!
It really helped!
Ooh I have to get one of those trays! I spend so much time trying to find everything in the cupboard.
It really makes a difference!
wow tandy
i am impressed that you write your posts a month in advance! crumbs, i can hardly get them done a day in advance:) thanks for joining in again. great to have you for IMK. fabulous idea re the storage rack!
I do that because we usually travel a lot 🙂
I want that storage rack more than ever. I am constantly banging things around trying to pull out the right pan or sheet.
It was a great find so I hope you manage to find one 🙂
I like that rack as well, but cannot figure out where I would put it, dimension wise. And your Maltagliati looks delicious. I need to get out my pasta machine.
Hope you make the maltagliati 🙂
I have a tall cupboard for my large baking sheets, muffin tins, donut pans, etc. Love that. Did get some racks like yours for ceramic serving dishes which of course never, never nest. We have so much tea and could use some trays like yours to organize…
I would love a tall cupboard but the one we have planned has been put on the back burner for now 🙂
Adjustable storage racks are so handy, makes those baking pans more reachable and less noisy to take out. Lots of delicious cooking in your kitchen and you sound so organized with a routine…something I am not so good at. Hopefully your Mum and Dad will get to enjoy all that tea later on in the year. 🙂
I am trying each week to redo my routine to fit everything in. I am not so sure we will see my parents until December which is a long time to wait.
I’m in agreement with everyone else about your storage rack. A very good investment.
Thank you Karen 🙂
I thought for a moment you were going into busienss with Lavendar and Lime candies. Thanks for the infused water reminder. I am going to check it out. Been drinking lots of tea while working from home but need more water intake and would love a cleanse. 🙂
It would be a great idea but I don’t have the time. The infused waters are really great for a nice change 🙂
