December 2021 was a whirlwind of activities and emotions. Before I get into the long story, we did not go to Vienna. However, we spent a weekend away in Franschhoek and then went on a road trip through the Cape Provinces. But, more about that later. For now I am sharing with you what I created in my kitchen in December 2021.
Lots of baking in December 2021
I went on a baking spree, making liquorice biscuits and chocolate bites, as well as a mocha tart with vanilla pastry.
Breakfast treats
Being the most important meal of the day, breakfast treats are always good for weekends and holidays. This ginger and lime granola is so worth making, and can even be used as a dessert topping. Bacon waffles need a bit of time, but are worth the effort.
All sorts of sides
For scones and bread toppings I made citrus marmalade. It used up a lot of fruit I was gifted which meant nothing went to waste. Then there was the most amazing tomato chutney which I have to make again to ensure I have some in the fridge. I also made some cauliflower hummus which is a great way to use this vegetable in an innovative manner.
Treats in my kitchen in December 2021
The first thing I do when we go shopping overseas is look for new Lindt flavoured chocolate. I bought home one slab as well as two packets of sugar free salted liquorice.
This is my January submission to the #IMK series hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens.
