Don’t Turn Around opening lines: The smell hits her first: burnt rubber and gasoline. Then the pain comes. The roar of blood in her ears, the gurgled strangle of her breath.
My blurb:
All Cait wants to do is be a writer. And when one of her pieces gets published she is disappointed that her name is not on the article. But given the comments, that turns out to be a good thing. That is, until she is outed and is targeted directly. She uses her work as a volunteer to exact revenge, but all it does is put her in further danger. Can she survive the attacks meted out against her?
Don’t Turn Around
Two strangers, Cait and Rebecca, are driving across America. Cait’s job is to transport women to safety. Out of respect, she never asks any questions. Like most of the women, Rebecca is trying to escape something. But what if Rebecca’s secrets put them both in danger? There’s a reason Cait chooses to keep on the road, helping strangers. She has a past of her own, and knows what it’s like to be followed. And there is someone right behind them, watching their every move…
My verdict:
I love it when I cannot guess who the perpetrator is, or their motivation. There are enough red herrings in this novel to keep you hooked. And you will find compassion within this well written story.
