Invisible Girl, Lisa Jewell | Book Review

Invisible Girl opening lines: I duck down and pull my hoodie close around my face. Ahead of me the girl with red hair is picking up speed; she knows she’s being followed.

Invisible Girl

My blurb:

Saffyre is broken, and Roan is meant to fix her. But for all his skills as a child psychiatrist, he never asks the vital question. So when he tells her all is OK and their sessions are over, she is left unbalanced. Seeking to find ways to sort herself out, Saffyre starts watching Roan. And the truths she learns feel like they are breaking her even further.

Invisible Girl

YOU DON’T SEE HER. BUT SHE SEES YOU.

MIDNIGHT: In an area of urban wasteland where cats hunt and foxes shriek, a girl is watching …
When Saffyre Maddox was ten, something terrible happened, and she’s carried the pain of it ever since. The man who she thought was going to heal her didn’t, and now she hides, learning his secrets, invisible in the shadows.
Owen Pick is invisible too. He’s never had a girlfriend; he’s never even had a friend.
Nobody sees him. Nobody cares.
But when Saffyre goes missing from opposite his house on Valentine’s night, suddenly the whole world is looking at Owen.
Accusing him, holding him responsible for Saffyre’s disappearance …
My verdict:

Being different can lead to so many things, and in a day of false accusations, this novel highlights one of them. An easy and enjoyable read from Lisa Jewell.
