Living The Ultimate Carnivore Lifestyle

I want to be very open in that I support a Mediterranean diet. But, in order to learn more, I requested to review Living the ultimate carnivore lifestyle. This is a South African guide and cookbook by Hendrik Marais. In it he is very clear that the strict carnivore, relaxed carnivore and ketovore advice is for information purposes only. He is not a nutritionist, dietitian, or doctor. And this is something you should keep in mind if you buy this book. Because of this, I am not including any of the information contained within the book.

Living The Ultimate Carnivore Lifestyle

The carnivore diet has been touted as a revolutionary, radical new approach to health, healing and fat loss. In truth, it’s simply a powerful, stripped-down form of ketogenic eating: essentially zerocarb, nutrient-dense, free from junk and refreshingly simple.

Chances are you’ve already heard about it, seen a few videos, or even know someone who’s tried it. But what should be an easy and effective lifestyle has become clouded by extremes. The best approach depends on your own unique biology, lifestyle and goals. And Living the Ultimate Carnivore Lifestyle is here to help you figure out what that is. It’s a practical, adaptable guide designed to give you the tools and confidence to take control. Whether you want to reduce inflammation, heal your relationship with food, improve mental clarity or lose fat, this book will help you build a lifestyle that works for you.

Part 1 elaborates on strict carnivore, relaxed carnivore and ketovore and how to find the right fit. It gives clear advice on creating a sustainable lifestyle with a complete four-phase implementation guide. It shows how to identify food triggers and answers questions on cholesterol, insulin, fibre and plant toxins, and teaches how to handle social pressure.

Part 2 has easy-to-follow meal plans and shopping lists, while Parts 3 and 4 provide over 80 recipes to take the guesswork out of your journey, and a bonus entertainer menu for social occasions.

What I made:

I made the cream cheese chicken bake as I loved the ingredients in it. It was not very easy to spread the cream cheese on the chicken, but the results was a very tasty dish. It was however very rich, and there was a lot of liquid in the dish after baking. I made the flan as Dave is a fan of crème caramel. It did not wow me, but it did not disappoint either. We enjoyed it for a few nights after dinner.

My impressions:

Because I am not confident enough about the information contained in the book, my review is only based on the recipes that took my fancy and that I tried. If you are keto curious, this book may be a good resource. I will go back and try some of the meat recipes as they all look and sound very good. I really wanted to make the mussel and cream bake before my review, but sadly, we could not get fresh mussels as we have had red tide.
