August 2020 Showcasing In My Kitchen

August 2020 crept in with me being sick. Nothing serious, just allergies taking over. The sore throat was knocked on the head with loads of different medications. I believe in attacking the viral infection from all angles. So I drank Corenza C and ACC200. Took Viral Guard and Sinus medication. Sucked on throat lozenges and gargled with Betadine. By the end of the weekend I was feeling much better having missed only one training session. And I spent a day on the couch doing as little as possible.

Kitchen Creations From August 2020

I am keeping up with my sourdough baking and made a divine chocolate cake, a daily bread, some crackers and flatbreads.

It was also International Scone Week in August 2020 and I contributed three recipes. I started off with cream scones, then moved onto rosemary and lemon scones, and ended the week with courgette and feta scones.

Other random recipes included one for hummus salad dressing, another for devilled eggs. And by far my favourite of the month, this saffron ice cream.

One new item in August 2020

I had a beautiful glass bottle next to our prep bowl for hand soap. But it is not really user friendly when your hands are dirty. And this one is not only easy to pump with any part of your hand, it has a non slip base as well. I have moved the glass one upstairs next to our coffee maker.

  1. Around the world, I think everyone had a quiet month of August, except for a few unfortunate cities in the US where the tensions of discrimination, disease, and economic hardship are taking a toll. I hope you have a healthier September!

    1. Mae, the situation in America really saddens me, especially with the awful police reaction to many individual cases.

  2. lots of great cooking going on there tandy. hope you’re feeling well these days. thanks so much for joining in this month. I may stop using inlinkz – it’s just a darn nuisance lately. love the saffron icecream! and that soap dispenser looks the bomb. take care S

  3. i’m a bit annoyed at myself for not joining in with International scone week, but i was really busy that time escaped me. I hope your feeling much better too.

  4. Tandy, I’m glad you’re feeling better. Sore throats are cause for concern these days with Covid-19 and I’m thankful allergies were the cause. (If one can be thankful for allergies.) I had to zero in on your chocolate cake photo — didn’t know you could make a cake with sourdough. Your saffron ice cream took “ala mode” to the next level! Loved your savory scones, too — all of them actually. Stay safe and well, my friend, xo.

    1. Thank you Kim. I am well pleased it is only allergies as well. And making cake with sourdough was a great experiment 🙂

  5. I’ve had seasonal allergies more this summer but I still keep hiking when the weather permits. I hate to stay inside! I appreciate the tips you give and of course the wonderful recipes! I want to make bread this week!

I would ♥ to hear from you (comments will be visible when I reply)
