Despite cutting back on blog posting, I am still only typing up my March 2025 post with a few days to spare before scheduling it. I was hoping to be able to be more ahead of myself, but I cannot complain as I had a lot of work to do this month. And work is always good, and a blessing.
Recipes from the blog in March 2025
Dave ran out of the commercial sriracha sauce, so I made my own. It is thinner than the one you can buy – but far tastier! I made two batches of pasta, a zucchini ravioli, and one filled with gorgonzola. Both were very tasty and a good use of ingredients that needed using up. On the baking side I made Persian love cakes – worth repeating, and a chocolate gateau that made for a decadent dessert. To celebrate an afternoon of relaxing, I made Dave and I Pimm’s cocktails to enjoy at the pool.
Two new things in my kitchen
I usually buy 00 flour in 1kg bags, but the local deli didn’t have any in stock when I wanted to buy last December. So, I decided to get some in bulk. I bought a 5kg bag, which should last a while. And, I got a new rolling pin. This one is specifically for my pasta, and has already been put to great use when I broke my pasta roller (more on that story soon!)
This is my April submission to the #IMK series hosted by Sherry. Each month bloggers around the world gather to share what is new in their kitchens.

I still have my rolling pin that I bought 20 years ago :-)) Not sure how you can break a rolling pin…
That is amazing – I have one that is over 30 years old, but I don’t like it. And my pastry one is not great for pasta when you need to roll it thin by hand. I have never broken one either 🙂
Making sriracha from scratch is an amazing idea! I had never even heard of it before the Red Rooster brand from California became so popular here, so it would never occur to me to make it. You inspired me to look up the history of this condiment, which is quite fascinating!

I am so glad I inspired you Mae 🙂
Gosh your ravioli looks good! And Pimms at the pool? That’s perfect!
Nothing like the perfect summer’s day 😉
Sounds like a good month in your kitchen. That zucchini ravioli looks great!
Thank you so much Astrid 🙂
So many great recipes, but my favourite of course are ravioli. My respect for making them!
Thank you so much for saying that!
I have cut back on blog posting to once a week, a while ago.
I remember I bought gluten free flour for making bread from the same company, Caputo, when I visited Genoa few years ago. After that I never got it reordered because shipping to Canada was expensive.
I can well imagine how expensive that would be!
It looks like it was definitely a great month in your kitchen!
Thank you Mimi!
I hardly ever schedule posts. If I’m two days ahead I think it’s fantastic 😂🤣
haha – I like to be a month ahead, especially when I am travelling 🙂
That chocolate gateau looks fab Tandy. Looks like a good month in your kitchen. I have a huon pine rolling pin which is wonderful as the wood is full of oil making it pretty much non-stick :=) Thanks for joining in this month! Always great to have you.

I might try oiling mine – was a good idea!
Your kitchen must have been filled with delicious aromas this past March. Did I miss the recipe for the Persian Cake?
Ooh, I hope you follow the link for the cakes – I am sure you will love them!
It is always a treat to see what you have been up to! Everything looks wonderful, and the sriracha sauce is quite a nice addition to your kitchen skills. Have a great month ahead.
Thank you Melynda 🙂
Another great month of cooking in your kitchen!
thank you Marg 🙂
Tandy, everything looks delicious. I am impressed that you can make your own sriracha sauce. I had never tasted it, but so many people use it and love it that I finally bought a bottle. I was amazed how Hot it is… not for me. I could barely swallow. Who wouldn’t love your chocolate gateau – yum.
It is far too hot for me as well 😉
